Synopsis
Based on tragic true events, Journée Noire tells the story of Ngor and Ali, two students at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal, who, after their scholarships are withheld for months, lead the student demonstrations against the institution. Poignant and visceral, this short film is at once a meditation on friendship and social injustice.
Journée Noire will be free to watch online for the duration of the festival.
Director Yoro Mbaye will take part in a live online panel discussion on Monday 16 November.
